Creftow Gallery was started in 1990 after the closure of AT & EM Bray, a furniture shop which preceded the Gallery on the same site. The idea, for a gallery, was born out of the West Cornwall Art & Craft group which lost its premises in 1985. Ceramics by members of WCA&C were in fact displayed between and on items of furniture for several years before the furniture shop closed so the opening of Creftow seemed a fitting alternative.
Two gallery spaces downstairs create a light and peaceful place to browse and across a courtyard full of plants and shrubs the third ground floor gallery space (the Bray room) was converted into two workshops in 2006 and are let to two members of Creftow. A further gallery space is located on the first floor overlooking the Folk Museum. |
