The Cornish landscape is a constant
source of inspiration; not just its wonderful coastline, but because of
its scarred, mined, interior – and the docks that have provided work
for generations. Ignoring (if one can) the awful assault of
development, but grasping at a historical harmony of man, work, and a
life moulded by the sea. Walls and structures, textures and spaces,
elements of the passage of time - from the hidden to the revealed. I
create 2D and 3D images that evolve in layers, sometimes diffused
through the use of muslin/collage…whatever is relevant. Sometimes the
original will break through (like paintwork on old boats) that
which lies beneath the surface being of equal significance to that which
is more immediately visible.
